Bringing nature back to the Hörselberge hills
Environmental protection was a central objective of the A4 project. The new alignment made it possible to renaturalise former highway sections in the Hörselberge hills, restoring habitats where many plant and animal species are now returning. Additional initiatives support local biodiversity, including ponds created with the NABU conservation organisation for the endangered yellow-bellied toad and installations providing refuge for pollinators such as wild bees.
