A new connection across the Ohio River
The Ohio River Bridge – East End Crossing connects Indiana and Kentucky across the Ohio River, forming the eastern segment of the Louisville metropolitan beltway along Interstate 265. The infrastructure links suburban growth areas and logistics zones while improving regional mobility around Louisville. By completing the ring road around the metropolitan area, the project relieves congestion on existing river crossings and supports commuter traffic as well as freight flows across one of the United States’ major transport corridors.

A pioneering PPP delivering value
Opened in 2016, East End Crossing marked a milestone in the development of public-private partnerships in the United States as one of the first large-scale bi-state PPP road projects in the country. The greenfield project connected two states through a new bridge, tunnels and highway sections while meeting ambitious sustainability objectives recognised by the Envision Platinum certification.
Financing innovation with green bonds
The project has also demonstrated the ability of PPP structures to evolve over time through innovative financing solutions. Our refinancing operation in 20021 supported by green bonds strengthened the financial structure while aligning it with sustainability objectives.
Ready for autonomous driving
East End Crossing continues to innovate to prepare infrastructure for the next generation of mobility. The teams recently upgraded pavement markings across the corridor to improve contrast and visibility for camera-based vehicle systems. These enhancements allow the infrastructure to support autonomous vehicles while improving safety and guidance for all drivers, especially in low-light or adverse weather conditions
